Having been born on a reservation in North Dakota, my experiences working within Indian Country span a significant portion of my life. My professional journey began in law enforcement, where I served for several years on various reservations. This role granted me an in-depth understanding of the unique legal frameworks that govern our sovereign nations, alongside a deep respect for our cultural practices and the people I have had the privilege to serve.
Throughout my tenure in law enforcement, I developed strong relationships within the communities, fostering trust and collaboration. I learned to navigate complex cultural dynamics, ensuring that my approach was sensitive to the traditions and values of the tribes. My commitment to protecting and upholding the rights of our people is paramount, and it is underscored by my knowledge of both tribal and federal laws.
